ISCP backs “Escape Your Chair” Campaign
The ISCP supports the Irish Heart Foundation this September for their month-long heart health campaign, ‘Escape Your Chair’.
September is Heart Month and this campaign aims to raise awareness of prolonged sitting as a risk factor for heart disease and stroke. A recent survey by the Irish Heart Foundation revealed that the average person in Ireland sits down for 7.3 hours a day. The campaign aims to inform and advise about the dangers of sitting too much.
As part of the campaign the Irish Heart Foundation created a range of resources to help people move more and sit less. These include;
ISCP President Gay Peart-Murphy said “This is an excellent campaign and mirrors exactly what physiotherapists are promoting. Being active helps so many of the body’s systems- so let’s roll in behind the Irish Heart Foundation and get people up out of their chairs to move for health”
